From XP to Windows 7 – No Direct Update Option!
Windows XP is as of now the most preffered Windows version worldwide. It is more reliable and more stable than anything else, or is it? It was up until Windows 7 came to live (Official release Oct. 22, 2009). Microsoft did not make it easy for the XP customers since they will not have the opotion to directly update to Windows 7. This means that all of their applications will need to be reinstalled in a new Windows 7 install. Here comes the tricky park; “Which software works on Windows 7?”. Well if you need applications that are regulary updated such as FireFox, MS Office and so on, you are in good shape. However, if you are using some old software that you have installed 2002 and never updated, you need to do a little research and find the latest Windows 7 supported version or to find alternative software.
So here are your migrating options:
You can doual booth Windows XP and Windows 7 – (This will allow you to switch to XP at anytime and use XP applications as needed) (Recommended)
You can install Windows 7 on a new conputer and keep XP on your old one (This will allow you also to acces XP applications at anytime)
Ofcourse you always have the option to make a clean install but then you are risking to loose some time when a needed application is not avaliable for Windows 7
