Microsoft alters a Laptop Hunter Ad, due to Apples complains

No comments July 24th, 2009

Lauren, who wants to spend a maximum of $1,700 on her computing dreams, offered this competing statement: “This Mac is $2,000, and that’s before adding anything.”

In the original ad, which has been removed from YouTube, Lauren wants to spend 1 700$ on a Laptop. When she visits the Apple store her comment is: “This Mac is $2,000, and that’s before adding anything.” and after her mom stated she would not pay that much.

In the edited version Lauren only says: “It seems like you’re paying a lot for the brand.”

Here is the edited version and if someone has the old one please comment with the link and I will add it too! Thank you in advance!

Did You Buy Intel? May Be You Should Have!

No comments July 23rd, 2009

Intel has been collaborating with Microsoft in order to make Windows 7 able to better identify and manage the available resources. The idea was to have windows 7 equally divide the application processes within the processor cores. This of course applies to the multi-core Intel processor s.
One of the many result that came out of the team work of Microsoft and Intel was the new feature that Microsoft has adopted from his partner – SMT parking. This allows Windows 7 scheduler to be more supported for Intel Hyper – Threading Technology, providing better performance on the Hyper-Threaded, multi-core processors of Intel.
Area of interest also has been the Boot/Shut Down/Sleep and Resume Speeds. In which area I can say from experience that they have done their job. My computer resume faster than I can adjust my chair. Also from personal experience whether or not I have a security program installed and running on windows start my boot time does not change more than 7 second (timed).
Windows claims that Intel were not the only once that Windows 7 has shared, discussed and adopted ideas from. This is what makes Windows 7 unique.

Dell Faces Problems with Windows 7

4 comments July 23rd, 2009

Windows 7 Dell is starting to think about users that still run Windows XP and wish to switch to Windows 7. There is a Microsoft tool that allows users to run virtual XP in Win 7 but it is complicated to use. Microsoft says that the Vista users do not have to worry too much since Windows 7 and Windows Vista are very similar and most programs for Vista will run on Win 7, however this is not the case with XP. Having approximately 85% Windows XP machines in businesses, this issue is not a good news. Apparently this is why Dell is concerned. But it’s is time to leave the legacy of XP behind and focus on the future of Windows 7 which offers a lot more than XP. The very few compatibility issues that I have had with Windows 7 were resolved simply by switching the compatibility mode of the shortcuts (Right click the short Properties; Compatibility check mark the Compatibility mode box). But I know it is not always so simple. So what I can suggest is if you have a older then 6 years machine, update and if there is a old software that you need for your business and it will not run on Windows 7, shop for new one if Update is not offered. To all XP users, and I know there is a lot of you, when you switch to Windows 7 you will realize that working on the computer is actually fun! Speed, Smoothness and Style is what sums up Windows 7. Microsoft, Apple and 21 More Companies Sued for Touch Screen Patent Violation

No comments July 22nd, 2009

Tsera has sued 23 electronics companies in federal court in eastern Texas for violating a patent on touchscreens.
The suit, filed on July 15, cites Apple’s iPod Classic and Nano products, Microsoft’s Zune digital media player, and 21 other popular devices as violating a patent, “Methods and Apparatus for Controlling a Portable Electronic Device Using a Touchpad,” granted in 2003.
The patent proposes a general description of how a user would input commands on a touchscreen “by tracing patterns with his finger on a surface of the touchpad. No immediate visual feedback is provided as a command pattern is traced, and the user does not need to view the device to enter commands.”

“A microcontroller within the device matches the pattern traced by the user against a plurality of preset patterns, each of which corresponds to a predefined function or command of the device. If the pattern traced by the user is a reasonably close match to any of the preset patterns, the device performs the predefined function corresponding to the matched pattern. The touchpad replaces the numerous buttons that are typically used to control portable electronic devices, thereby enhancing usability and reducing manufacturing costs.”

“Apple has had actual knowledge of the ’584 patent since at least as early as September 30, 2004 when the ’584 patent was cited as prior art during the prosecution of Apple’s U.S. Patent Application No. 10/259,159,” the complaint said. “Apple’s infringement of the ’584 patent has been and continues to be willful, wanton, and deliberate, and carried out with full knowledge and awareness of the Plaintiff’s patent rights and without license from Plaintiff.”

Other defendants in this case are Auditek, Bang & Olufsen, Coby Electronics Corp., Cowon, Dane-Elec Corp., Data Station, IMA ” Hong Kong, Impecca USA, iRiver, Philips Electronics, LG Electronics, Mach Speed Technologies, Meizu Technology, Spectra Merchandising and Trekstor GMBH.
